Map Question

The map on the right side of this blog used to have marks representing all of the visitors to this site. I didn't clear it, so I don't know what happened. It starts over daily, I think. Anybody got an idea how to fix it??? Thanks! K

Typepad Help

If you use Typepad and can help, please let me know! Each one of my daily posts had a different URL www.mom2my4.com with a number after it. Now I cannot see the links anymore. They all say www.mom2my4.com without a specific number, so I can't reference back to a previous post. I must have changed a setting. If you know what I did, please let me know!! Thanks!

Also, when I linked a blog within a post, a person could see the URL after the highlighted link was clicked on. Now even if they visit another site, they still see www.mom2my4.com. Let me know if you can help! Thanks!!

6,335 or 3,748 or 1,117 Live Hits? Counters?

6,335 Typpad

3,748 Counter

1,117 Feedburner

Ok! I do not understand counters, feeds, etc. Typepad (the service I use to run my site) says that I have had 6,335 visitors. The counter on the side of my blog says that I have had 3,748 visitors. The map on the right has my visitors coming from different cities, but the listing below the map don’t match with the cities.

I am sure that I must have them sent all differently. For example: one probably counts the feedcatchers and readers that hit the site. The others might only catch live hits.

Hmmm… ok, who out there is an expert on feeds and such. Can you give me some suggestions or pointers? Thanks!!

(Yes, family and friends you can ignore this. This is me asking my blogging buddies for help!)

My First Ultimate Blog Party!!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

5 Minutes for Mom is sponsoring the Ultimate Blog Party! What kind of party you ask…. Well… (this is my first one)…. Everyone enjoys reading blogs. This is a way to discover new blogs. Everyone writes a post describing this party and telling a little about their blog. Then they link their post back to the Ultimate Blog Party!

Ok…. So here goes…..

I started this website (blogging) while we waited for the referral of our daughter from China! My name is Karen, and I teach 4th grade on the east coast. My husband Chuck and I have four children. Our youngest two were adopted from China in 2006 and 2007. Daniel is 16 years old and in the 11th grade. Morgan is 13 (14 soon!) and in 8th grade. Kelsey is 2 and will be 3 on March 27th. She was adopted from Cangwu SWI in Guangxi, China. Rachel is 2 and will be 3 on April 26th. Yes! You read that right, they are 30 days apart in age. Rachel was adopted from Wanzhou SWI in Chongqing, China.

I use this blog to keep our out of town friends and family updated on our life. I have also met some WONDERFUL friends in the blogging community. I never pictured myself as a blogger, but I really enjoy reading other people’s sites. (… kind of like a modern day reality TV… LOL)

Please leave me a comment and let me know where you are from! I am so glad that you are here. This is my first Blog Party…. I am excited!!

By the way, I read about this on the site of the fabulous Queen of Dirty Laundry! I love the header on her blog... airing it in public.... LOL.... love it!

Click on the pink icon on top. It should take you to a spot where you can view lots of blogs written by moms!!

Also... the main link for my blog is www.mom2my4.com . Remember to click on www.mom2my4.com and save it to your readers or bookmarks!

(I have no idea why the spacing is off in this post! It could be because I typed this in Word first. I don't know!)

Still Learning

I am still learning how to use this web site. I cannot figure out how to delete links when I want to! I also tried to add a little bit to my post below about Jasmine, and I can't get it to add.

Anyway, Jasmine is the little girl in the picture with the girls in the pink dresses. She is my cousin, Carol's daughter.  We have a ton of pictures like this one. You should have seen us trying to get all three girls to look at the same time! My Aunt Phyllis (Carol's mom and Jasmin'e grandma) bought the dresses and the little shoes. :)

Typepad Issues (Aunt P & Mom skip this post)

Hello! I know that I am having a slight problem with my site. I tried to update the "Families Traveling Now" section of links. I was able to add the new sites. However, when I deleted the links that were now home, it didn't work. It shows on my main TypeList page, but when I get to the www.mom2my4.com site, they are still listed.

Anyone out there familiar with typepad that can offer assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Blog

This is a blog. Obviously, some of you are saying. The people who read our updates and my ramblings are on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as their Internet knowledge. So for those of you who have your own blog or web site...you can probably skip this section.

Here's some basic information. I know this page is not set up like our old page. Here's a virtual tour of the Mom2my4 page.

* Blog: A blog is short for a web log, an online journal of sorts. In short, a blog is a web page.

*Entries: Entries are set up chronological with the most recent entries on the top. I am not able to set up entries in folders like I was before.

*How do you find something?: On the far right side of the screen near the bottom, you will see categories and achieves. I try to tag each entry with a category. If you want to go back and only look at pictures, click on the picture tab under categories. If you only want to read about adoption, click on that. The other option is achieves. If you want to read something that I wrote in July, click on the July under achieves. This will take you back to everything that was written in July.

*Keeping up with us: *You can check back anytime you like. *OR you can add your email address to the top right. I have no control over how often this notice gets sent out. I think it goes out once a day, if I write something. The service with automatically send you the notice. This does have an unsubscribe option if you do this and then change your mind.

*Guest book: There is not guest book or at least I haven't figured out how to add one. There is a comment section under each entry. You can comment there if you would like.

*Links: I love to read other people's blogs/websites. On the right of this page, there are two sections with links listed. You can click on anyone of these to view other people's pages. (It actually works well for me too because now most of my favorite links are in in one spot.)

Blogs are kind of gunny. It is kind of like reality television. Blogs give you a glimpse into someone's life. Many of the sites I go to have to do with adoption and adoptive families. :) Obviously, that is where my interest lies right now. Lately, I have been heading over to to her blogs like... QTPies7 (my friend Lisa who used to live here), Organizing Junkie, Everyday Mommy, and The Queen of Dirty Laundry. I love the Queen's name: Queen of Dirty Laundry: Airing it in public since 2006. That just makes me laugh. My mother and grandmother always talked about not airing my laundry in public. LOL,  so this title is just so funny!

OK, that's the down and dirty about this blog. There's more to say, more advanced topics including Google Reader, etc... someday I will get into it... :)

A Work In Progress

I know... I know... another web page! Yes, but I think this is the site I will keep! Here is the story... we have kept our babyjellybeans page www.2003family.com for a couple of years. That site charges a monthly fee plus it is not unlimited storage. Every month or two we must buy new storage PLUS pay the monthly fee to keep it going. The monthly fee would be OK, but I do not like to keep buying storage, and I don't really want to delete anything old. So.... I have been checking out other options for blogging.  One option is to switch to a blogger site, a typepad, a yahoo, or a wordpress site. I did have a blogger started. However, I wanted to have a three column format to my page. You have to use a third-party program to get it to make three columns in blogger. This was easier, so I am using Typepad. It seems easy to use. Also, I am having someone design a custom header (title) for this page! As you check back, this site will change!

Why do I want three columns you ask???? Well, I love links. I like to share the links (websites & blogs) that I visit with others. When you only have two columns, you have to scroll way down the page to find what you are looking for.  With more columns, it spreads the links out more.

You will notice that when I type, I clarify topics. For example, I say blogs (websites) and header (title). I know that not everyone needs this. However, my family reads this as well as my friends. I need to add those little things so my mom and Aunt P know what I am talking about. :)

A few other notes: ** I transfered a few of my old slide show into typepad. ** You can subscribe to this blog's feed. **Ma and Aunt P: You do not need to hit the button that says, "subscribe to this feed.". You should just put your email in where it says "subscribe". When you do this, you will get an email update when I update this page. (... just like our old website).

Welcome to the page, everyone! Give me a little while to learn how to use this, and we will be up and running!
