Lost House!

Yesterday I picked up the girls at daycare and drove past the entrance to our neighborhood on the way to Walmart. I guess I forgot to mention that we were going to Walmart. As soon as we passed the house~ ~~Kelsey yelled, "Mom! You LOST our house!" It was so cute. ... "You mean we passed our house?" ....."No. mom! You lost it! You just did it. "

Funny

Tomorrow the girls have renal ultrasounds to check for kidney stones. This is just a precaution because they were in China during the time that tainted formula was used. Anyway...

The last 2 times the girls were at the doctor's they got shots. I wanted them to be ok tomorrow. So, as they were getting ready for bed, I showed them how they do an ultra-sound. Kelsey was so funny. "They're going to take a picture of MY belly?"     Me: "Yes"            Kelsey: "I have a baby in there???????"

Calendar Girls

CCAI is the wonderful agency that we used for our first adoption. They sell a calendar every year as a fund raiser. We always get the calendar. There are many children in the calendar... some we know from on line. Anyway, it is always a big deal. "The list" comes out with the children who were selected. They try to use many different children, but CCAI is a big agency. They can't use them all. This year we decided to submit a photo of the girls. (Yes, Rachel can be in the photo even though she wasn't adopted through CCAI.) We just found out that the girls will be included in the 2009 calendar! We don't know what size or what month. I am attaching the photo to the bottom of this post. At least, I THINK it is the one I submitted. :-)

Phone Call

I almost had a "heart attack" yesterday. I was driving the girls to the doctor's office for their flu shots. I received a message. It must have been on my voice mail for a couple hours, but I teach so I didn't see it until later.  "Hi, this is ___________, Dr. _____'s nurse. I see that you are bringing the girls in for flu shots this afternoon. So, we can talk to you when you come in about the girls lab results. Make sure you tell the front desk that we need to talk with you after their shots." WHAT?????? Right away, my mind was racing!

The girls had blood tests done a couple of weeks ago to test their kidney function. They were possibly exposed to the tainted formula in China. OK-- so my mind is racing! I called Chuck to meet me at the doctor's office. I told him that they didn't say anything was wrong, but they needed to talk to us.

It turns out nothing is wrong with them! Their tests were negative!! Yeah!! The doctor had done research. (I read much of the same stuff when I was researching.) She said that not all problems or stones would show up on that blood test yet. The research is suggesting renal ultarasounds to be sure. Since this is non-invasive, she feels that it would be a wise idea, so that we know. It is not urgent. They will have them in the next month or so-- whenever they can be scheduled. They are in no pain and this is just an extra pre-caution.

I asked her if the girls were fine after the ultra-sound, if that meant they were fine for life. She said she didn't find much in the research. People really didn't know right now. They assume that they will be fine. If they ever had kidney type problems, they would look into a connection.

:-) So... to recap... the girls are fine! We are just going to have the ultra-sound to be on the safe side!

Finally 1st Day of School Pictures!

There is a story behind Daniel's shirt. The senior class heard that the county was putting locks on all of the schools to increase safety. They thought it would make their senior year more difficult... like they were in a penitentiary! LOL! Silly seniors, they are putting this on all schools... not to keep you in, but to keep others out!! Anyway, they tried to get black and white striped shirts, but they were too expensive. They ended up with their school color (orange). The shirts really were cute! There are about 350 seniors, I think. They all wore their shirts the first day of school. I can't wait to see the group photos!

Brave Girls at the Dentist

Today was Kelsey and Rachel's first visit to the dentist. At our dentist office, the first visit or 2 are "Happy Visit." The girls went in to see all of the dentist's tools. They got to ride in the chair, have their teeth "counted", try the water, try the air, and feel the spinning toothbrush. I was really impressed, they allowed the hygienist to do more than I thought they would. Morgan was a big help too! They were quite brave with their big sister's arms around them!

There is a story to the other dental chair. On October 2, 2006, I was sitting in this chair when Erin from Harrah's called to say that we were going to become Rachel's parents! I had taken the afternoon off from work. I was a nervous wreck because we had to petition to be Rachel's parents. There were other families that wanted to bring her home. I thought we would get the "yes or no" before my 4:30 dentist appointment. Well, the call didn't come, so I brought my cell to the dentist. Sure enough... Erin called!
